Yangtse Geog is located near Dzongkhag,
headquarter . Bumdeling Geog is in the north and other six Geogs in the south. The Geog also
shares its boundary with the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh in the east. The Geog
consists of seven villages with 471 households, covering 268 Sq.Km
Yangtse is one
of the two Geogs in Tashiyangtse Dzongkhag where exquisite handmade wooden bowls and cups
are produced. The Geog has such units, located in Tashiyangtse town, which forms a many
lucrative cottage industries in the Dzongkhag. About half a dozen handmade paper units are
located in the Geog.
Of the total registered cultivated land, about 433 acres are
devoted to paddy and around 561 acres to maize and wheat cultivation. Potato is grown as
cash crops.
Tashiyangtse Geog has 3 community Primary schools, one Higher
Secondary School and one Lower Secondary School. Though majority of the households have
access to schooling facilities, still pockets of villages are far off the existing schools.
Children from these communities attend as boarders at Bayling HSS and Tashiyangtse LSS.
One District Hospital and 2 Out Reach Clinics (ORC) render health services in the
Geog. As the Dzongkhag Headquarters is located in the Geog, it has access to Telephone,
Banking and Postal Facilities.
The Tashiyangtse Rabdey established in 1999 is
located in the old Tashiyangtse Dzong. The Chorten Kora and Kharchendra Nye is located
within this Geog.
