Jamkhar Gewog

Jamkhar Gewog is one of the administrative divisions, or gewogs, within the Trashiyangtse District of Bhutan. Jamkhar Gewog is situated in the eastern part of Bhutan, within the Trashiyangtse District. It is bordered by other gewogs such as Ramjar, Khamdang, and Lumang. The gewog occupies a picturesque valley surrounded by mountains, offering stunning natural scenery.

The population of Jamkhar Gewog consists mainly of Bhutanese people, primarily belonging to the Tshangla and Khengpa ethnic groups. Buddhism is the predominant religion, and the community holds deep reverence for their cultural heritage and spiritual traditions.

Agriculture is the primary source of livelihood for the people of Jamkhar Gewog. The fertile valleys support the cultivation of rice, maize, potatoes, and various vegetables. Livestock rearing, including cattle, yak, and poultry farming, also plays a significant role in the local economy.
