As part of 115th National Day Celebration event in Trashiyangtse Dzongkhag, Bumdeling Wildlife Sanctuary coordinated an eco-trail walk from Phurdung (Zhapang) to Dungzam via Rigsumgoenpa. The opening ceremony was chaired by Dasho Dzongda of Trashiyangtse dzongkhag joined by Rigsumgoenpa Lam, Offgt CFO of BWS, Sector heads and staffs from Trashiyangtse dzongkhag, Gup of Yalang, Khamdang & Ramjar gewog, representatives from Bumdeling gewog, cooperation and Rigsumgeonpa project. There were 45 participants for the eco-trail walk including staffs from BWS and members of Youth Initiatives Ecotourism Group. The trail covers a distance of 7.5 km with elevation ranging from 2000 to 3000 masl. The event also aimed to promote Youth Initiatives Ecotourism Group whereby the services like food, refreshment, walking sticks, T-shirt and cap with conservation message were sold to the participants. This not only helps youth group to generate income but also provides good services to the walkers, promotes traditional cultures & helps in conserving our precious nature. The participants have also enjoyed the facilities of birdwatching and botanization along the trail with help from staff of Bumdeling Wildlife Sanctuary. The management of BWS would like to thank Dasho Dzongda Trashiyangtse for his kind approval and participation in the first ever eco-trail walk as part of 115th National Day Celebration. We also would like to thank all the participants including our staffs for their continued support.
